Donald Simpson was the first husband of my grandmother. They were both from Perth but lived in the Dean Village in Edinburgh as newlyweds. She was 5 months pregnant with my uncle when her husband was killed in 1943, aged only 26. She was born the day the First World War ended, the war to end all wars, but was a war widow by 25.
Hello Cara,
I retired as a teacher at Perth Academy in 2014 and I am helping a group of students with a Second World War remembrance project. Donald Neville Simpson is a former pupil of the school and I would be really interested if you could add anything to his story. I am also a volunteer with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and we are planning a tour of Perth Cemetery. It would be nice to feature Donald’s story during the tour.
Hoping you’ll get in touch,
Dave
