I believe my grandfather, Lieutenant Herbert James Hunt, succeeded Captain Michael Blaney after he was killed in action in December 1940. Capt. Blaney had been a welcomed visitor to my grandparents home in Upminster and they, and my mother, remembered him fondly when speaking of him to me when I was young. I remember my grandparents being in contact with his family for many years after the war.
